Questions
My laptop won't turn on: are my files gone?
Usually not. In most cases the board or power circuit has failed and the drive is fine. We can read the drive directly or repair the board to get your files back.
Should I try recovery software myself?
Not on a drive that clicks, isn't detected or has physical damage: running it can make things worse. Switch it off and bring it in.
What about BitLocker or FileVault?
Encrypted drives need the recovery key. For BitLocker it's often saved in your Microsoft account; we'll help you find it.
